Does SmartSpeed AI need an internet connection?
No. Speed, trips and alerts all work fully offline. GPS does not require mobile data.
Why does the app speed differ from my car's speedometer?
Vehicle speedometers are legally allowed to read slightly high. GPS speed reflects your actual ground speed, so it is usually 3–7% lower.
Does it drain the battery?
Continuous GPS uses more power than idle use. On a typical phone expect roughly 5–8% battery per hour of active navigation-style use.
Is my location data uploaded anywhere?
No. Trips and route insights are computed and stored on your device only.
